Claims Associate

Role overview

This position focuses on handling vendor credits accurately, keeping inventory losses under control, and making sure merchandise is processed according to company standards. The role also requires delivering helpful service to vendor partners, fellow associates, and customers on the sales floor.

Key duties

• Help reduce shrink by promptly scanning merchandise that has been damaged or stolen.
• Keep returns, vendor return requests, recalls, shipping documents, packing tasks, and related paperwork current and completed within required timelines.
• Process SORT and Global Donation merchandise as required.
• Follow safety procedures at all times, including correct disposal of chemicals, keeping the claims area tidy and hazard-free, and using ladders and lifting methods properly.
• Track merchandise moving through claims and help protect store assets by following the correct process for returns and shrink management to reduce chargebacks.
• Record and monitor returns and shrink wins within the store.
• Stay informed about company rules, processes, and procedures for damaged and recalled goods, and ensure new store programs and systems are followed consistently.
• Use the Return Manual correctly, keep claims files current, minimize chargebacks, and complete Vendor Return Request Forms for claims older than 45 days.
• Complete all GM CVP (Customer Value Program) tasks.
• Support the Office Support Associate and Direct Store Delivery Associate when needed.

Compensation

The starting hourly pay for this role is $18.55.
