Description de l'emploi

About Otago Cricket

Otago Cricket is one of New Zealand Cricket’s six Major Associations and is charged with growing and guiding the game across Otago and Southland. Backed by a strong history, a committed cricket following, established high-performance programmes and an ambitious outlook, the organisation is looking for a standout executive to lead it into its next phase. This role offers a rare chance to influence one of New Zealand’s most recognisable sports, from community-level participation through to elite performance in the south.

Role overview

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will take ownership of strategic and day-to-day leadership across Otago Cricket. The appointee will be accountable for delivering the organisation’s long-term direction, protecting financial viability, strengthening key relationships, and building an environment where community cricket and high-performance cricket can both flourish. This position works closely with New Zealand Cricket, district associations, commercial partners, local councils, schools, clubs, volunteers, and the wider cricket community, while leading a capable and driven team.

Key responsibilities

  • Shape and deliver Otago Cricket’s strategic priorities and long-term plans.
  • Lift participation and deepen engagement across Otago and Southland.
  • Back high-performance pathways that help develop future WHITE FERNS, BLACKCAPS, and domestic players.
  • Maintain strong governance, sound financial oversight, and organisational sustainability.
  • Develop productive relationships across the broader cricket network and stakeholder groups.
  • Spot, secure, and grow commercial partnerships, revenue opportunities, and funding streams.
  • Foster a strong performance culture that supports and develops great people.
  • Promote innovation and help the organisation respond to change in the sporting environment.

About you

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, relationship-focused leader who can balance community outcomes, sporting excellence, and commercial discipline. You will bring senior executive experience, strong business and financial judgement, the ability to translate strategy into action, and confidence working with governance boards. You should also be an excellent communicator with high emotional intelligence, proven people leadership, and the agility to adapt, innovate, and identify new opportunities. A genuine interest in cricket, sport, and community development is essential.

Application details

Applicants should send a CV and cover letter to Richard Stenhouse at richard@globalelitesports.com. Applications close on Monday 13 July 2026.

Opportunity statement

This is an exciting chance to influence the future of the game, support the next generation of players and coaches, and contribute to the continued success of the Otago Volts, Otago Sparks, and cricket communities throughout Otago and Southland.
