Role overview

This is a permanent full-time laboratory position at the refinery site near Perth Airport. The role is highly practical and focused on producing accurate, reliable results that uphold the integrity of laboratory operations.

Working alongside the Manager Technical Laboratory, you will help commission and verify analytical equipment and methods, contribute to everyday testing, and support the lab in maintaining strong standards of performance and compliance.

Along with technical work, the role involves coordination across quality control, regulatory compliance, and ongoing process improvement. You will also assist in strengthening team capability by helping with training, competency checks, and consistent work practices across both instrumental analysis and fire assay functions.

The position suits someone who enjoys precise laboratory work, troubleshooting, and collaboration, while also contributing to better systems and shared ways of working.

Roster and working hours

The role follows a fixed nine-week rotating roster, and candidates need to be able to work consistently within this pattern:

• Weeks 1 to 3: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Weeks 4 to 6: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Weeks 7 to 9: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

The cycle repeats every nine weeks, so dependable attendance and flexibility around the roster are essential.

Candidate profile

You should bring a solid background in laboratory science, with hands-on experience in analytical instrumentation and wet chemistry, ideally gained in mining or precious metals environments. Familiarity with ICP and XRF systems, fire assay work, and method validation will be highly valuable.

The ideal applicant is highly organised, careful with detail, and able to manage competing priorities across testing, calibration, and compliance tasks. When challenges occur, you should be able to respond in a calm, structured, and practical way.

This role also requires someone who enjoys supporting colleagues, sharing expertise, and contributing to training and capability development within the team.

Above all, you should demonstrate accountability, a strong safety mindset, commitment to quality, and a focus on continuous improvement. A relevant tertiary qualification and practical laboratory experience are required.
