Chemical Laboratory Analyst

What you will do

• Support testing of air and water quality, including sample collection and analysis.
• Run analytical work using chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, electroanalytical, and other separation methods.
• Set up and help carry out chemical experiments, trials, and analytical procedures.
• Prepare gas or liquid solutions, reagents, and sample mixtures needed for testing.
• Maintain, operate, and set up laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Develop and assist with sampling and analysis programs aimed at maintaining quality standards.
• Help create health, safety, and testing standards for laboratory work.
• Record, compile, and interpret data from analytical and experimental studies.
• Support the design and fabrication of experimental equipment when needed.
• Use MS Office tools in day-to-day documentation and reporting.

Skills and experience needed

The ideal candidate has hands-on laboratory experience in analysis, research, troubleshooting, quality control, and product or method development. Relevant background includes agriculture, industrial or inorganic chemicals, and organic or specialty chemical products. Experience with soil analysis, green economy work, and environmentally focused technical knowledge is considered valuable.

Technical exposure should include chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, sampling, biological techniques, statistics, and inductively coupled plasma spectrometry (ICP). Knowledge of MATLAB and MS Excel is also expected.

Work environment

This position is based in a remote location. Relocation expenses are not covered by the employer. The work can be fast-paced and high-pressure, with tight deadlines, repetitive duties, a large workload, and physically demanding tasks. The role also requires strong attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, color differentiation, and the ability to work while sitting, standing, and walking for long periods.
