Job purpose

This role focuses on selling data and capacity products and related services to carrier customers. The position is responsible for delivering revenue and performance against the company’s assigned targets while keeping strong client relationships and supporting day-to-day sales activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle client relationships, secure invitations for RFPs, propose workable and competitive solutions, and progress bids through to successful closure.
  • Build a strong understanding of the company’s network capabilities and wholesale resale offerings in the telecom market.
  • Work across business areas that mainly include capacity services such as submarine cables, IP Transit, DIA, IPLC, IEPL, cloud access, and colocation, with lesser focus on mobility services like voice trading, as well as IPX, devices, and A2P in the Southern Africa region.
  • Identify fresh business opportunities and develop relationships with target customers through networking and presenting the company’s capabilities and services.
  • Act as a main contact for carrier partners and clients, coordinating commercial matters requested by either side.
  • Perform daily pricing tasks for carrier customers.
  • Manage contracts with carrier partners and clients.
  • Travel occasionally to meet clients and prospects across East Africa and to represent the company at industry conferences.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
  • At least 7 years of sales experience in the telecom industry, including a minimum of 3 years of direct sales experience in the sub-Saharan African wholesale telecom market.
  • Must be responsible, collaborative, hardworking, self-driven, and able to handle pressure.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities are essential.
  • Excellent written and spoken English is required.
