Role overview
Weatherford is seeking an experienced Billing Support Specialist to join its team in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. In this role, you will handle customer billing for delivered products and services with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. You will support finance and operations by checking service records, preparing invoices, correcting billing issues, and making sure billing activities align with customer agreements and internal policies.
This position works across Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Accounts Receivable, and customer contacts to help revenue recognition run smoothly, maintain billing quality, and support Weatherford’s wider commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Raise and process customer invoices accurately and within the required contractual and internal timelines.
- Examine field tickets, service reports, purchase orders, contracts, and supporting paperwork to confirm billing completeness and compliance.
- Check pricing against customer agreements, approved rate cards, and quotations.
- Look into and resolve billing mismatches by working with operational teams, commercial teams, and customers.
- Make sure every billing transaction follows company financial controls, internal policies, and applicable accounting rules.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities by completing billing tasks on time.
- Track unbilled revenue and help reduce billing delays through proactive follow-up.
- Work with Accounts Receivable to handle invoice questions and assist with timely collections.
- Keep billing records and supporting documents accurate in ERP and document management systems.
- Prepare credit notes, invoice corrections, and rebills when needed and in line with approval procedures.
- Assist with customer audits by supplying billing records and related evidence.
- Produce standard billing reports and KPI updates for management.
- Contribute to process improvement by identifying ways to simplify billing workflows and strengthen controls.
- Follow Weatherford’s Code of Business Conduct, QHSSE standards, and local regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required.
- Professional accounting certifications such as ACA, ACCA, ICAN, or an equivalent qualification are preferred.
- At least 2–5 years of experience in billing, finance operations, accounts receivable, or revenue administration is expected.
- Background in oil and gas, energy, manufacturing, or engineering environments is preferred.
- Experience using ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems is an advantage.
- Experience in multinational or shared services environments is also beneficial.
- Strong understanding of invoicing, billing workflows, and revenue recognition principles.
- Knowledge of purchase order administration and contract-based billing is important.
- Advanced Excel ability, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Comfort using ERP financial tools.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation capabilities.
- Ability to juggle several priorities while maintaining accuracy.
