Banquet Captain

Role Overview

The Ritz-Carlton in Doha is hiring a Banquet Captain to oversee banquet service delivery and help ensure events are executed to the brand’s exacting luxury standards. This position plays a hands-on leadership role during meetings, conferences, weddings, and other special functions, with a strong focus on polished guest service, smooth coordination, and precise operational execution.

What the Role Involves

• Direct and monitor banquet service associates throughout events such as conferences, weddings, meetings, and celebrations.
• Make sure every function is carried out in line with banquet event orders, guest expectations, and brand service guidelines.
• Provide highly personalized service by anticipating guest needs and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
• Act as the main on-floor contact for guest questions, concerns, and recovery actions during functions.
• Keep service behavior, grooming, and presentation aligned with a luxury hospitality environment.
• Lead pre-event briefings to explain the event plan, service flow, and staff assignments.
• Work closely with Culinary, Sales, Stewarding, and Event Management teams so the event runs without disruption.
• Check that the room setup is correct, including tables, décor, AV support, and service tools.
• Oversee food and beverage service to ensure correct timing, presentation, quality, and serving temperature.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safety, and alcohol service rules.
• Allocate tasks and manage staffing during service periods.
• Support, coach, and motivate banquet associates to sustain high standards.
• Assist in onboarding and training new team members on service expectations and brand standards.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors that encourage an inclusive and respectful workplace.
• Review banquet event details for accuracy, including guest counts, menus, timing, and event orders.
• Confirm billing details, usage, and final event completion information are accurate.
• Maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and proper storage of banquet equipment and supplies.
• Take part in daily briefings, team meetings, and improvement efforts.

Workplace Details

This is a full-time position based in Doha, Qatar. The role is not remote and is part of the Food and Beverage & Culinary function. It is a non-management position.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has prior experience in banquet service or food and beverage supervision, ideally in a luxury hotel setting. Strong communication, leadership, and people skills are important, along with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a busy environment. A good understanding of banquet service formats such as plated, buffet, cocktail, and family-style service is expected, as well as working knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and beverage service standards. The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred. Related work experience of less than one year is mentioned, and no supervisory experience is required. No license or certification is needed.
