Applications Specialist – Student Systems (Banner)

Role overview

This position is for a Student Systems Applications Specialist who will serve as the technical and functional expert for student information systems and related lifecycle applications. The role focuses on keeping higher education platforms running smoothly, improving how they are used, and supporting ongoing enhancements that strengthen the student experience.

What you'll do

• Own day-to-day support and administration for student information systems, including Ellucian Banner 9 (XE) and similar higher education platforms.
• Support business areas such as admissions, registrar operations, academic affairs, financial aid, and student success systems.
• Coordinate and contribute to system implementations, version upgrades, integrations, testing activities, and vendor collaboration.
• Work with multiple internal teams to improve digital services and the overall student journey.
• Provide second- and third-line application support while maintaining reliability, security, and compliance across systems.
• Help introduce automation, process improvements, and service enhancements to raise operational efficiency.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting student information systems.
• Practical experience with Ellucian Banner 9 (XE) or a comparable SIS platform.
• Solid understanding of application integrations, APIs, SaaS products, and enterprise applications.
• Strong problem-solving ability, stakeholder handling, and communication skills.
• Professional credentials such as PMP, Agile, PRINCE2, ITIL, or related platform certifications are considered beneficial.
