About the role
This position is responsible for keeping the General Ledger accurate, complete, and updated on time. It supports the period-end close for UAE as well as international entities, while safeguarding data quality and adherence to IFRS, company procedures, and regulatory obligations. The role also covers journal processing, account reconciliations, audit support, financial reporting, and tax-related compliance work.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing work across UAE and international entities, including subsidiaries, so financial close is completed on schedule and with accuracy.
- Handle general ledger tasks such as preparing, reviewing, posting, and processing journal entries, accruals, provisions, reclassifications, and other adjustments with the required documentation and approvals.
- Prepare and check reconciliations, trial balance workings, supporting schedules, and notes to the financial statements for audit use and management review.
- Keep the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts current and accurate, ensuring records remain complete and aligned with IFRS, internal controls, and applicable regulations.
- Work with teams across AP, AR, Tax, FP&A, Payroll, and Fixed Assets to align data, support sub-ledger close activities, and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner, including help with Oracle system updates and validations.
- Support financial reporting, internal and external audits, including ICOFR, and tax compliance by preparing schedules, sharing supporting documents, and responding to queries from stakeholders and auditors.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Professional accounting certification such as CPA or ACCA is essential.
- At least 3 to 4 years of experience in a comparable role is required.
- Experience should include general ledger work, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Exposure to Oracle or another ERP system and experience managing the Chart of Accounts is expected.
- Knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, and audit support is needed.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability is important.
- Good communication and presentation skills are required.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other finance tools is expected.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is necessary.
- Excellent English is required; Arabic is a plus.
