Role overview

UCOL is looking for an Academic Adviser to join the Curriculum and Academic Services team in Palmerston North. This full-time position reports to the Executive Director of Quality and Academic Assurance and works alongside two other advisers.

What the role involves

The adviser will provide specialist support across academic quality assurance, teaching and learning, programme development, assessment and moderation, and compliance with academic regulations. The role also contributes to organisation-wide self-review activity, quality improvement projects, and ongoing day-to-day quality assurance processes.

Key focus areas

• Supporting academic quality assurance across the institution
• Advising on teaching, learning, programme design, assessment, and moderation
• Helping ensure academic regulatory compliance
• Assisting with self-review and quality enhancement initiatives
• Working closely with faculty and academic administration teams

What UCOL is seeking

The organisation is looking for someone with strong interpersonal ability who can work effectively with a wide range of people across academic and administrative functions. Experience in tertiary education quality assurance is preferred, along with familiarity with external quality assurance bodies and expectations such as NZQA, Industry Skills Boards, and professional organisations.
