Role summary
QC Capital is hiring a full-time Underwriting Analyst to work from its Charlotte, NC office. The position supports investment decision-making by carrying out detailed financial review, assessing risk, and evaluating transactions across the firm’s acquisitions process. It is a hands-on role that collaborates with leadership, acquisitions, and asset management teams to help guide data-backed investment choices.
Key responsibilities
- Build thorough underwriting analyses for potential real estate and private equity opportunities, including cash flow forecasts, IRR estimates, and sensitivity testing.
- Review financial statements, rent rolls, operating results, and market comparables to judge the strength of each investment.
- Create and update sophisticated financial models that support acquisitions and portfolio management work.
- Carry out market and competitive research to test assumptions and spot relevant trends.
- Work with the acquisitions group on deal structure, pricing, and preparation for investment committee discussions.
- Draft investment memorandums, executive summaries, and other materials for internal review.
- Support due diligence by coordinating with outside vendors, legal partners, and internal teams.
- Track portfolio performance, identify gaps versus expectations, and suggest corrective actions when needed.
- Maintain clean, accurate, and consistent data across underwriting models and reporting deliverables.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a closely related discipline and brings 3–6+ years of experience in underwriting, financial analysis, investment analysis, or a similar field. Strong Excel skills and advanced financial modeling ability are essential. The role also calls for working knowledge of real estate investing, capital markets, and valuation methods.
Experience underwriting multifamily, commercial real estate, or private equity deals is preferred. Familiarity with tools such as Argus, CoStar, Yardi, or comparable platforms is considered an advantage. Candidates should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage several priorities in a fast-moving, deadline-sensitive environment. Clear communication skills are important, especially for turning complex data into practical recommendations.
