Role Overview

This position focuses on the safe decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment within a clinical environment. The role supports infection prevention, equipment readiness, compliance, and patient safety while following the organization’s care values, policies, and quality standards.

Key Duties

  • Receive, sort, and inspect used surgical tools and medical devices before decontamination.
  • Clean instruments manually with approved detergents and disinfectants.
  • Run and maintain decontamination systems such as ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and disinfectors.
  • Assemble instrument trays and medical equipment according to defined procedures.
  • Wrap, label, and document sets and supplies properly in preparation for sterilization.
  • Check instruments for damage or wear and escalate findings to the line manager.
  • Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, in line with manufacturer instructions and facility policy.
  • Track and record sterilization cycles, including time, temperature, and pressure.

  • Certification in sterile processing or a diploma in sterilization.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.
  • Valid license from the country of origin.
  • Practice license as required by the applicable regional health regulatory authority, such as SCFHS or DHA.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and any other applicable LSTC certifications.
