Position Overview

South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is looking for a caring and driven Supported Employment & Education Specialist (SEE) to support its Navigate Program. In this role, you will help people living with mental illness move toward meaningful work and education outcomes by offering individualized vocational coaching, job search and placement support, educational planning, and long-term follow-up using the Supported Employment and Education (SEE) approach.

About the Organization

South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is a private, nonprofit behavioral health organization accredited by The Joint Commission. The agency serves Southeast Palm Beach County and is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality mental health care to individuals and families in the community.

Qualifications

The role calls for a bachelor’s degree in Social Science from an accredited college or university, along with at least one year of direct experience supporting individuals with mental illness. Strong writing and speaking skills, solid organization and time management, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are also required.

Preferred preparation includes a master’s degree in Social Science or a related discipline, three years of experience supporting people with mental illness, and prior exposure to supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, or educational counseling. Familiarity with community employment resources and post-secondary education systems is also valued.

Key Duties

This position focuses on helping clients set and achieve personal goals related to employment and education. The specialist will complete vocational and educational assessments, support clients in securing competitive jobs and entering academic programs, build connections with employers and educational institutions, and provide continued follow-up to support lasting success.

The role also includes outreach to employers and education providers, client advocacy, and referrals to community resources that strengthen vocational and educational outcomes. In addition, the specialist participates in treatment planning with the care team, completes assessments and documentation on time, attends weekly meetings, joins clinical supervision, and takes part in required training. Other tasks and special assignments may be added as needed.

Core Knowledge and Working Expectations

Successful candidates should understand supported employment and education principles, counseling and client engagement techniques, job development, community networking, assessment, and treatment planning. Strong organizational habits, accurate documentation, time management, and respect for confidentiality, client rights, and ethical practice are essential. Familiarity with the Baker Act, Marchman Act, and behavioral health services is also important.

The job combines office-based responsibilities with community outreach and requires regular computer work, travel throughout the community, and visits to employers, schools, and client locations. The setting is a behavioral health and community-based services environment with an OSHA Class III work environment.

Performance is evaluated by client progress toward employment and education goals, accuracy and timeliness of assessments and records, the growth of employer and education partnerships, client engagement and satisfaction, adherence to agency policy and SEE best practices, and effective teamwork with the interdisciplinary treatment staff.

Benefits

The benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, optional voluntary benefits, and a 401(k) plan with employer matching.

Additional Requirements
