Stewarding Associate

Role overview

The Stewarding Associate supports kitchen and food-and-beverage operations by keeping work areas, equipment, and utensils clean, sanitary, and organized. This position is part of the non-management full-time team in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Key duties

• Run and care for cleaning equipment and tools, such as dishwashers, hand-wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, storage rooms, tables, tools, knives, and other equipment.
• Receive incoming deliveries, store perishable items correctly, and rotate stock to maintain freshness.
• Keep clean wares in the designated storage areas.
• Use detergent, rinsing agents, and sanitizing chemicals in the three-compartment sink to wash dishes properly.
• Check cleaned items, stack them appropriately, and return any dirty items for re-scrubbing and re-washing.
• Rinse and rack items with hot water to loosen and remove food residue.
• Sort, soak, and rewash silverware as needed.
• Break down dirty bus tubs, empty trash cans, and maintain the dumpster area.
• Sweep and mop assigned department areas.
• Dispose of glass safely in the correct containers.
• Flatten cardboard boxes and place them, along with other recyclables, in the recycling bin.

• Follow company policies, safety rules, and security procedures at all times.
• Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager.
• Complete required safety training and certifications.
• Protect company property and assets.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
• Build positive working relationships and support the team in meeting shared goals.
• Maintain the quality standards expected for the role.
• Perform other reasonable tasks assigned by supervisors.

Physical requirements

The role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. It also involves extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking, along with frequent reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
