- Produce supporting deliverables such as P&IDs, PFDs, HVAC layouts, CE&I diagrams, model integrations across multiple disciplines, piping isometrics, single-line diagrams, and related support drawings.
- Assist engineering teams with design work for FOAK nuclear and industrial equipment, gloveboxes, hot cells, shielded enclosures, and remotely operated mechanical systems.
- Work with engineers to interpret ideas, solve design problems, and improve layouts across mechanical, civil, electrical, I&C, and process disciplines.
- Contribute to facility and process improvement efforts that support safer operations, DOE cleanup activities, and SMR program requirements.
- Check your own drawings and models carefully to catch issues early and maintain accuracy and quality.
- Review the work of peers and provide useful feedback; guide and support junior drafters and designers when needed.
- Maintain red-line records such as ECNs and FCNs, and ensure work follows internal and client standards.
- Balance creative design thinking with safety expectations, engineering fundamentals, and DOE/NRC design criteria.
- Deliver work to schedule and support project execution with dependable design outputs.
- Travel occasionally for short site visits or to secure facility credentials.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree plus at least 6 years of experience, or a high school diploma plus at least 10 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus at least 2 years of design experience.
- Advanced working knowledge of SmartPlant 3D, Smart 3D, or Octave Forte 3D.
- Strong interest in mechanical, piping, equipment, or facility design, particularly for complex or FOAK systems.
- Working understanding of engineering discipline practices and the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate well in a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with relevant design codes, standards, and criteria.
- Ability to quickly learn new design tools and adapt to changing project requirements.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
