About Telnyx

Telnyx is a leader in global connectivity, building the infrastructure that powers modern communication. The company combines a private, worldwide, multi-cloud IP network with edge technology delivered through simple APIs to connect people, devices, and applications more seamlessly.

Its focus is on replacing manual work with automation and solving practical problems through advanced connectivity products. Telnyx is financially stable and profitable, with that strength supporting ongoing investment in new technology as well as a learning-oriented environment for its team.

The company’s vision is a future where seamless connectivity enables unlimited innovation. This role offers the chance to contribute to that direction while continuing to grow professionally.

About the role

This position is for a senior engineer with strong Python and Airflow experience, a careful approach to data and financial accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast-moving environment. You will join the Pricing, Costs & Routing (PCR) team and help lead the automation and data pipelines that support pricing, billing, and financial reporting across Telnyx’s products.

The PCR team owns the backend systems and data workflows that support pricing, margin reporting, and cost analysis across voice, messaging, wireless, and other product lines. The work includes complex Airflow DAGs, rate deck management, pricing APIs, and CDR/MDR data at scale.

What you'll do

  • Take ownership of Airflow DAGs used for pricing automation, margin reporting, and cost analysis.
  • Develop and support rate deck pipelines across multiple product areas.
  • Build and maintain Python-based pricing services and APIs, including async implementations.
  • Review CDR/MDR data to uncover vendor mismatches and support refund or reconciliation processes.
  • Create automation that resolves discrepancies and improves pipeline reliability through self-healing workflows.
  • Produce and maintain financial reporting such as monthly margin reports, negative margin alerts, and gross profit calculations.
  • Design new automation for quoting processes.

What we're looking for

  • At least 5 years of professional Python experience, including strong async programming with tools such as aiohttp, asyncpg, and FastAPI.
  • Hands-on Airflow production experience, with real ownership of complex DAGs.
  • Solid SQL skills across PostgreSQL and analytical databases such as Athena, BigQuery, or similar systems.
  • Working knowledge of financial and pricing data, including margins, markups, cost base, and currency handling.
  • Ability to inspect and troubleshoot Java services when required.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Docker, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Strong debugging ability, including the skill to trace logs, query databases, and identify the source of data pipeline issues.
  • Comfort operating production services and pipelines, including participation in on-call support and incident handling.
  • Familiarity with AI coding agents as part of an investigation workflow, while still applying independent judgement.

Bonus experience

  • Exposure to Go.
  • Background in telecom or CPaaS, especially with CDRs, termination rates, or origination prefixes.
  • Experience integrating with Salesforce or other CRM tools.
  • Previous work on pricing engines or billing platforms.
  • A practical decision-making style that balances speed with long-term maintainability.
  • Interest in working in a fast-paced, product-focused environment.
  • Habit of staying current with new technologies and patterns, and sharing useful learnings with others.
