Security Guard - Full Time

Role overview

This position involves maintaining a safe and orderly environment at an assigned client location in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The guard supports the protection of people, property, and assets while helping ensure site rules and procedures are followed.

Key duties

• Monitor the site and document activities, incidents, and observations.
• Carry out routine patrols to spot irregularities and verify that security and fire protection equipment is in working condition.
• Help maintain order and, when needed, enforce site rules for employees, visitors, and the premises.
• Manage entry to the client facility through the access-control process.
• Patrol on foot or by vehicle and check for hazards, unsafe conditions, open doors, security breaches, blocked entry or exit points, mechanical issues, and unauthorized individuals.
• Safeguard evidence or the scene after accidents, emergencies, or security-related investigations.
• Respond appropriately to incidents such as fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous material situations, severe weather, and similar events.
• Complete logs and reports as needed.
• Perform other site-specific tasks as assigned, with duties subject to change based on business needs.

Job requirements

• Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• May need to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl from time to time.
• Requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking, sometimes for extended periods, including stairs, inclines, and uneven ground.
• May involve lifting or moving up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to obtain and continue meeting all licensing requirements applicable to security guards.
