Role overview
This position is responsible for leading projects through the full lifecycle, from initiation and planning through execution, control, and completion. The role involves close coordination with internal engineering teams, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure timelines, cost targets, quality standards, and contractual obligations are met.
Key responsibilities
- Examine customer contracts, technical documents, product specifications, and applicable standards before and during project delivery.
- Manage projects end-to-end, including initiation, planning, execution, and control to drive successful outcomes.
- Oversee project integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, communication, and procurement activities throughout the project life cycle.
- Estimate manpower and material requirements for the complete project and plan resources accordingly.
- Prepare schedules, track progress, and maintain regular reporting on project status.
- Handle progress billing, contract claims, and meetings with customers.
- Provide daily updates to the Engineering Division Manager and/or Project Director.
- Review work breakdown structures, bar charts, S-curves, manpower histograms, and resource allocation plans.
- Support and guide Lead Project Engineers and Lead System Engineers on technical and project-related matters.
- Review purchase order requests related to project procurement.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors on technical and delivery issues to meet schedule commitments.
- Prepare and review monthly project progress reports.
- Attend customer project progress review meetings and present project updates.
- Monitor project progress, report status, and support project costing and coordination activities.
- Develop project budgets, maintain cost control systems, and arrange required resources.
- Work with customer project managers and engineers on commercial and technical matters.
- Review and approve deviations from the scope of work.
- Prioritize team tasks in line with customer needs and management requirements.
- Compile and submit change orders, waivers, and concessions as needed.
- Prepare project summaries and risk registers and update them regularly.
- Manage resources in line with milestones and project schedules.
Requirements
- A degree in engineering, preferably in instrumentation, electronics, or electrical engineering.
- At least 15 years of experience in project management and execution within industrial automation and controls.
- Working awareness of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- PMP training or certification is preferred.
- Previous exposure to power projects and water projects is preferred.
- Practical experience with RO plants, DM plants, and water transmission system control projects.
- Experience dealing with instrumentation, analyzer, and cybersecurity scope.
- Experience in executing and coordinating SWA/SWCC projects is preferred.
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
- Ability to build and implement execution strategies that support company and customer targets.
- Experience creating strategies to improve project gross profit.
- Capability in project design engineering analysis and improvement methods.
- Ability to use execution strategies to improve planning, productivity, and product or service quality.
- Good understanding of IT basics and Microsoft applications.
- Strong project progress reporting and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Familiarity with project and system design engineering packages and related software.
