We are hiring a Plant Maintenance Supervisor to join the Manufacturing team in Gokak. The role sits at the center of plant operations and is focused on keeping equipment reliable, safe, and available so production targets can be met on time and within the planned resources.

What the role involves
- Oversee the condition and performance of equipment across starch sections or similar process areas, including gathering stations, compressor stations, dryers, pumps, silos, and related systems.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and equipment history records, then use them to identify patterns and support better decision-making.
- Guide and coordinate maintenance engineers as well as contractors.
- Review engineering and design changes, process improvements, and modifications to understand their impact on operations and to ensure the right maintenance approach is in place.
- Raise purchase requirements for spares and tools needed for both planned and emergency maintenance.
- Spot hazards and take part in job safety analysis for high-risk tasks tied to routine maintenance, shutdown work, and emergency repairs.
- Prepare bill of materials documentation for maintenance and AMC-related jobs, and handle technical evaluation of vendors in line with company procedures.
- Build maintenance budgets and submit them on time for approval.
- Support pigging activities whenever required.
- Monitor spare-parts receipt status and ensure GRN and service entry actions are completed quickly so vendor and contractor payments are not delayed.
- Create standard operating and maintenance procedures aligned with safety, health, and environment management systems to improve control and operational excellence.
- Work with equipment, pipelines, and process plant machinery, especially pumps, agitators, turbines, and similar assets.
- Use knowledge of maintenance management systems commonly used in international process plants.
- Participate in breakdown handling, root-cause review, and updating breakdown history records.
- Reduce downtime by ensuring preventive maintenance is carried out on schedule.
- Support stores and procurement teams in optimizing inventory by identifying required spares and helping set stock levels.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including validation and qualification activities, harmonization of equipment and utility qualification programs, and QA oversight where needed.
- Coordinate across Quality, Safety, Production, QC, Supply Chain, MS&T, CFTs, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to support compliance and execution.
Skills and knowledge expected
- Strong mechanical maintenance expertise in process or manufacturing plants.
- Hands-on understanding of preventive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and effectively.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
- Capability to read schematics and technical drawings.
- Awareness of safety procedures and equipment-related precautions.
- Good communication and training abilities.
- Comfort working with heavy equipment.
- Basic spoken and written English.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Education and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. The ideal candidate should bring 6 to 8+ years of experience in a similar maintenance role.
Eligibility
Applicants should hold a B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and have relevant experience in plant maintenance or a comparable industrial maintenance environment.
