Role Overview
This position is a practical, leadership-focused role centered on improving and managing PKI operations. The successful candidate will ensure security, operational discipline, and audit preparedness within a tightly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily running of the PKI environment and ensure smooth operational control.
- Administer Certificate Authority services and the supporting trust infrastructure.
- Handle certificate lifecycle activities, including issuance, renewal, suspension, revocation, and validation.
- Make sure all operations align with approved procedures, governance requirements, and certificate policies.
- Keep accurate operational logs and supporting evidence for sensitive actions.
- Coordinate Hardware Security Module activities and secure cryptographic key management.
- Assist with key ceremonies and tightly controlled cryptographic procedures.
- Build stronger internal ownership and higher operational maturity across PKI functions.
- Maintain, refine, and standardize PKI runbooks, processes, and documentation.
- Help align PKI policies and operating processes across the function.
- Ensure audit records are complete, well organized, and easy to retrieve.
- Oversee execution of PKI-related changes and enhancements.
- Confirm that major changes are reviewed, tested, approved, and documented appropriately.
- Support incident handling and risk escalation activities tied to PKI operations.
- Work closely with infrastructure, DevSecOps, security, compliance, and operations teams.
- Support monitoring, backups, resilience, security hardening, and disaster recovery work.
- Liaise with external technology partners, vendors, and auditors whenever needed.

- Operational procedures and supporting documentation stay current and well maintained.

- Operations, security, compliance, and engineering teams collaborate effectively.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in managing PKI or Certificate Authority operations.
- Strong practical knowledge of X.509 certificates, certificate lifecycle management, HSMs, secure key handling, and highly available PKI environments.
- Background in access control, segregation of duties, incident response, backups, disaster recovery, logging, and operational governance.
- Exposure to security and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, WebTrust, ETSI, or comparable regulated settings.
- Experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC markets is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications in security, governance, PKI, cloud, or infrastructure are a strong plus.
