About the organisation
Southern Cross Care WA is a not-for-profit provider supporting West Australians through care, support and accommodation services. The organisation is guided by a strong purpose and values people who want to make a meaningful difference in the community.
With a team of about 900 employees and 130 volunteers, the group delivers services to more than 3,000 people across residential aged care, retirement living, mental health, community housing and home care. It is also committed to inclusion, diversity and respect for Traditional Owners of the lands on which it operates.
About the opportunity
The payroll team is growing to support additional projects, and this role has been created to add another team member. The position includes a thorough training and handover period so the successful person can settle in with confidence and support.
You will join a stable, established team and gain exposure to projects including the rollout of a new HRMIS. The role is based on a flexible hybrid arrangement, with two days each week in the Rivervale office and the remaining three days worked from home.
This is a maximum-term position through 30 July 2027, with the possibility of extension or conversion to permanent employment.
Key duties
- Handle end-to-end payroll processing within required deadlines, including onboarding, offboarding, contract changes, adjustments, leave cash-outs, timesheet imports, data validation, and variance review.
- Manage payroll enquiries promptly and professionally.
- Ensure payroll work meets audit and compliance expectations.
- Carry out detailed calculations and use an analytical approach to identify discrepancies and errors.
What you’ll need
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of payroll fundamentals and preferably prior experience with PayGlobal in a complex payroll setting. You should be confident working independently from system reliance and comfortable handling manual, repetitive tasks with accuracy and resilience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important, as is the ability to think critically, solve problems and adapt to remote training. Advanced Excel capability and a sound understanding of taxation and superannuation legislation are also required.
How to apply
Applicants should submit an updated resume together with a cover letter explaining their experience and suitability. If shortlisted for interview, additional documentation will be requested, including a current National Police Clearance issued within the last 6 months (or proof that it has been applied for), a completed pre-employment health questionnaire, and qualifications.
