Role Summary
As a Patient Scheduler, you will be the main contact for patients and outside facilities when arranging appointments. The job also involves handling insurance-related details, helping patients understand what to expect financially, and keeping appointment coordination smooth between patients, providers, and medical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for patients and external facilities when setting up visits.
- Review, confirm, and relay insurance benefit information during the scheduling process.
- Explain the insurance verification steps and outline the patient’s expected out-of-pocket responsibility.
- Confirm appointments and share any required directions or preparation details.
- Work with providers and clinical staff to keep scheduling organized and efficient.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- You need at least 2 years of experience in customer service, appointment scheduling, or healthcare.
- At least 1 year of experience using an EHR system is required.
- Strong speaking and writing skills are essential.
- You must be able to protect confidential information and follow HIPAA rules.
Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Prior remote work experience, especially in a busy call-handling setting, is an advantage.
- Comfort with Google Suite and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Good problem-solving and de-escalation abilities will help you stand out.
