Role overview
The Vella Group is an established accident repair specialist with more than 30 years in the industry, focused on restoring vehicles after accidents and delivering high-quality customer service. With 20 sites already operating and further growth planned, this is a strong opportunity to join the business during an active phase of expansion and innovation.
In this role, you will complete panel repairs and replacements on vehicles to a high standard, while identifying and diagnosing any extra issues that may need attention. The aim is to return each vehicle in a condition that fully satisfies the customer.
Key duties
- Perform repair work in line with approved procedures and quality standards.
- Where possible, meet the timeframes and standards set by Thatcham, insurer guidelines, manufacturer requirements, and company policies.
- Carry out a test weld before welding and keep the result on record until the repair is finished.
- Use body filler to finish damaged areas and prepare them with 180-grade production paper.
- Maintain a clear record of extra parts needed and share this information with the appropriate teams.
- Keep the workspace tidy and safe, ensuring removed panels are not left in dangerous positions and general waste is placed in the correct disposal areas.
- Protect vehicles from additional damage throughout the repair process by keeping windows shut where possible, masking open areas, and using seat covers, steering wheel covers, and protective sheeting.
- Store parts that will be reused in boxes or wheeled cages so they remain undamaged.
- Place small parts in a suitable container inside the vehicle only if they cannot cause any damage.
- Report any parts that are damaged, or become damaged during removal or repair, and are not scheduled for repair or replacement to the Estimator and Production Manager without delay.
- Check PPE daily and sign the fit-for-use log weekly.
- Stay up to date with health and safety practices and COSHH requirements relevant to the role.
- Ensure lids on paint and thinners are secured when not in use.
- Never store parts on the roof or bonnet of the vehicle.
- Complete repairs in accordance with BS 10125.
