Role overview

Verda is hiring a Junior Data Center Technician to support its Data Center Operations team in Hamburg. This is a physical, site-based role focused on keeping hardware deployed, connected, monitored, and operating reliably. You will be part of the execution layer that helps bring infrastructure live and maintain customer uptime.

The work involves server installation, cabling, hardware lifecycle tracking, incident response, and vendor coordination. The environment moves quickly, expectations are clear, and you will often need to think independently, ask the right questions, and adapt to changing conditions. Occasional work outside standard hours should be expected.

During your first year, the aim is for you to become capable of handling complete hardware deployments on your own, establishing cabling and documentation standards for a site, and serving as the main point of contact for vendor-related coordination.

Key responsibilities

You will install and organize servers and networking equipment, maintain structured cabling, track hardware through deployment and decommissioning, and support first-line troubleshooting when incidents occur. You will also work with vendors, monitor physical site conditions, and keep documentation accurate and current.

Working conditions

This position is based in Hamburg, Germany, and requires on-site presence with frequent travel to other sites. It is a full-time, permanent role. Because the data center environment is active and operational, flexibility around working hours may be needed from time to time.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate has a vocational background in IT, electrical work, or electronics, along with practical or well-developed theoretical knowledge of structured cabling. Comfort with Cat6 and fiber optic work is important, including routing, termination, and labeling. You should also have experience with electrical assembly or repairing technical equipment, plus hands-on Linux command-line ability and basic Windows troubleshooting skills.

A solid grasp of networking basics such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and VLANs is needed, along with strong written and spoken English. You must be able to work on-site and commit to full-time hours.

Additional advantages

Previous exposure to servers or data center environments is considered a strong plus. A flexible schedule, willingness to adjust working hours, and a driver's license for site access are also beneficial.
