Java Backend Engineer (AI/LLM Chatbot, Customer Service)

About the Role

This position sits within a global blockchain and crypto infrastructure company known for operating a major digital asset exchange. The team is building backend systems for AI chatbot products that serve a very large customer base. It is suited to someone who enjoys high-ownership work in a fast-moving environment with strong focus on impact, learning, and technical quality.

What You Will Do

• Create and maintain backend services that power AI chatbot products.
• Design and deliver large-scale software that can support the daily needs of millions of users.
• Evaluate and integrate LLM-based capabilities to improve chatbot quality and user experience.
• Handle infrastructure and architecture improvements, performance optimization, incident troubleshooting, and system refactoring.
• Produce clean, dependable, maintainable code and follow engineering best practices.
• Support and mentor junior engineers, including sharing knowledge and helping guide day-to-day technical work.

What We’re Looking For

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
• More than 8 years of professional experience in a relevant technical role.
• Strong Java development skills and a willingness to work directly on the codebase.
• Working knowledge of Python and experience collaborating with algorithm engineers.
• Ability to stay effective under pressure and pick up new concepts quickly.
• Strong communication skills for working across teams.
• Solid understanding of design patterns and system design approaches for common software engineering problems.
• Experience with chatbot or customer service bot systems is an advantage.
• Experience using large language models is an added advantage.
• Exposure to data processing tools such as Flink or Spark is also a plus.
