Head of Digital Applications Development

Role overview

The Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust is looking for a senior digital leader to take on the role of Head of Digital Applications Development. This fixed-term secondment runs for 24 months and is intended to support service needs. Anyone considering the secondment must first obtain approval from their current line manager before applying.

This position offers the chance to establish and lead a new internal application development capability. The function will be central to digital transformation across clinical, operational, and corporate areas of the Trust.

What the role will focus on

You will define the organisation’s approach to internally built applications, including strategy, standards, and governance. The role requires solutions that are secure, sustainable, and aligned with both organisational goals and national expectations.

Working across the Digital directorate and with colleagues from across the Trust, you will provide both strategic direction and technical leadership for application design, development, and end-to-end lifecycle management. You will also help grow the team’s capability, promote continuous improvement, and contribute to stronger digital maturity across the organisation.

Salary note

In accordance with the Trust’s starting salary policy, new starters will normally begin at the minimum point of the band for this post. Candidates may request a higher starting salary if they can demonstrate relevant prior experience.
