Engineering Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead technical activities across a major building project in Ras Laffan, Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Qatar. The position plays a key role in turning design intent into practical site execution, strengthening constructability, coordinating technical disciplines, and supporting quick decisions that keep the project moving.

The preferred candidate will have substantial GCC experience, ideally in Qatar, along with a track record of leading complex building works. Familiarity with consultant, authority, and client expectations is important, particularly for stakeholders such as QatarEnergy and similar industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering and technical workstreams, with a focus on design coordination, buildability, and fast closure of technical concerns.
• Examine design drawings, shop drawings, RFIs, and technical submittals for accuracy and compliance.
• Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, and client-side representatives to keep technical matters aligned.
• Confirm that designs are practical to build, accurate, and consistent with project specifications.
• Take the lead in resolving site and design-related technical issues during execution.
• Track engineering deliverables and ensure they remain in step with the project programme.
• Provide technical support to planning and delivery teams whenever needed.
• Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including civil, structural, and MEP functions.
• Attend progress meetings and present engineering status updates.
• Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving efforts.
• Ensure adherence to authority regulations and project standards.
• Keep complete records of all engineering-related activities and decisions.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• At least 15 years of experience in building construction projects is needed.
• Previous GCC experience is preferred, with Qatar experience considered an advantage; Ras Laffan experience is especially beneficial.
• Strong background in design coordination and managing consultants is expected.
• Knowledge of QatarEnergy and authority requirements is preferred.
• MMUP/UPDA certification is preferred, and may be mandatory depending on applicability.
• Strong leadership ability and clear English communication skills are essential.
