Team context
The Finance team helps keep the business commercially strong and ready for the future. In addition to accounting, compliance, planning and analysis, the team protects commercial performance and supports smart investment decisions. It provides dependable financial controls, accurate reporting and risk oversight so the company can scale confidently. The team also works closely with Product, Growth and Technology to convert data into commercial insight, including forecasting and scenario planning that highlight opportunities and guide investment in products and people.
What you will do
- Build, maintain and improve reliable data pipelines and workflow processes.
- Create and enhance data models in the cloud data warehouse environment.
- Strengthen data quality, governance, lineage and observability across the platform.
- Help deliver trusted self-serve analytics capabilities for internal stakeholders.
- Work with Finance, Technology and operational teams to gather needs and turn them into scalable data solutions.
- Take part in architectural decisions around storage, modelling, orchestration and overall platform design.
- Apply security and governance best practices throughout the data ecosystem.
- Keep improving reliability, performance and maintainability of the platform.
- Assess new tools and methods where they can deliver real business value.
- Share knowledge and help raise engineering standards across the team.
Essential requirements
- At least 4 years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering or a similar discipline.
- Advanced SQL capability, including building and tuning complex transformations.
- Strong Python skills for automation and data engineering tasks.
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, preferably AWS.
- Experience with cloud data warehouse tools such as Redshift or a comparable platform.
- Proven background in building and running production-ready data pipelines.
- Practical use of AI to improve data engineering workflows.
- Solid understanding of data modelling principles and established best practices.
- Experience handling structured and semi-structured data.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality and security fundamentals.
- Ability to explain technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desired experience
- Exposure to dbt or similar modern data transformation tools.
- Experience supporting data platform modernisation or migration work.
- Background in observability and data quality frameworks.
- Familiarity with platform architecture and long-term technical decision-making.
- Experience supporting AI, machine learning or advanced analytics use cases.
- Experience in fast-growing technology businesses.
