Role overview
This part-time Data Analyst (Entry / Junior) position is based in Melbourne, Victoria, with a hybrid setup that includes some work from home. The role is suited to someone at the beginning of their analytics journey who wants to build hands-on experience in a fast-moving, technology-driven setting.
What you will do
You will help turn data into useful business insights by gathering, preparing, and structuring information from internal and external sources. The work will include running simple analytical queries, producing reports and dashboards, and supporting the identification of trends and patterns for business stakeholders.
You will also work alongside senior analysts and teams from other functions to understand results, document findings, and help improve data-related processes over time.
What is expected
The ideal candidate should be comfortable learning quickly, thinking analytically, and contributing to decision-making through accurate and well-presented data work. A background in a data-related discipline is helpful, along with familiarity with common analysis and reporting tools.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical ability and a working understanding of data analysis methods are important for this role.
- Basic knowledge of statistics is needed to carry out simple quantitative analysis and interpret outputs correctly.
- Data modelling skills are useful for organising and structuring information for reporting and analysis.
- Clear communication is required to explain insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A degree or equivalent training in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is considered beneficial.
- Hands-on familiarity with Excel, SQL, and introductory data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau will be an advantage.
- Experience working in a hybrid environment, managing time well, and collaborating across teams is preferred.
