Role overview

Yarrawonga Health is looking for careful, dependable cleaners to join its Environmental Services team in Bathumi, Victoria. The role supports a clean, safe, and infection-controlled environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out regular cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitising across patient rooms, shared spaces, and other assigned areas to maintain a high standard of hygiene.
• Collect, sort, transport, and dispose of waste, recycling, and biohazardous materials safely and in line with hospital procedures.
• Follow infection prevention and control requirements, especially in high-touch and higher-risk zones.
• Work in coordination with Environmental Services colleagues and clinical teams to meet service needs and any special cleaning requests.
• Comply with workplace health and safety rules and immediately raise hazards, risks, or incidents with the relevant supervisor.

What the role requires

• Availability to work across all shifts, including weekly, afternoon, weekend, and public holiday rosters.
• Basic computer literacy.
• An understanding of confidentiality requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of people.
• Self-driven approach with the capacity to work independently and stay organised.

Desirable background

• Previous cleaning experience, ideally in a healthcare environment.
• Familiarity with infection control methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of how to handle and dispose of biohazardous waste correctly.

• Commitment to high cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
• Physical fitness and stamina for cleaning duties, including moving or lifting equipment.
