About the Role

Borusan Pipe U.S., Inc. in Baytown, Texas is looking for a CAD Designer to support technical drawing, equipment design, and plant layout work for ERW and SRM operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Produce technical drawings and prints that help turn ideas, parts, and equipment concepts into workable solutions.
  • Prepare, review, and interpret blueprints with CAD tools.
  • Partner with the technical team to evaluate design options and resolve engineering challenges for ERW and SRM plant and utility projects.
  • Work through complex design issues together with manufacturing, maintenance, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Support the design of new machines, manufacturing processes, equipment, and tools.
  • Create full plant layouts with multiple alternatives using AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools.
  • Develop assembly and shop-floor drawings for projects involving ERW and SRM machinery or equipment.
  • Track equipment and tool changes and request drawing corrections when needed during the production cycle.
  • Keep equipment and tool documentation current in the company ERP system.
  • Maintain a well-organized technical drawing archive for plant machinery and equipment, including version control.
  • Help improve manufacturing methods by designing and adjusting equipment used for fabrication, building, assembly, and installation.
  • Build and update mechanical part and assembly drawings that clearly reflect design intent and manufacturing needs.
  • Develop and refine detailed mechanical components, including sourcing, volume models, and key performance parameters.
  • Maintain bills of materials for assigned projects.
  • Prepare, control, and keep release packages and design history files current.
  • Respond to engineering questions and information requests as needed.
  • Be available for domestic travel of up to 10%.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the same role or in a closely related CAD Designer position.
  • Hands-on experience designing equipment with CAD software such as Inventor, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro/ENGINEER, PTC Creo, and/or Unigraphics.
  • Background in pipe-industry equipment design, with knowledge of pipe manufacturing processes, including OTCG.
  • Understanding of pipe-making methods, pipe materials, and pipe formation.
  • Experience designing SRM equipment.
  • Ability to travel within the U.S. up to 10%.
