CAD Designer

Role overview

Queensmith is seeking a CAD Designer to join its team in London. In this role, you will create CAD concepts and prototypes for both the core range and bespoke jewellery orders. Success in the position depends on working accurately and at pace, staying adaptable, and maintaining strong attention to detail. You will also need to communicate clearly, manage your time well, keep accurate records, and stay highly organised to support efficient day-to-day production.

Key responsibilities

• Create CAD designs for client orders and stock items based on the required specifications.
• Prepare files that are ready for casting and work closely with metal casters when needed.
• Support collection development by producing both CAD files and illustrative renders where appropriate.
• Coordinate with sales and production teams to confirm design details and keep internal deadlines on track.
• Use 3D printing equipment to produce waxes in time for client appointments.
• Take part in client-facing discussions when manufacturing or design guidance is required.
• Support senior CAD team members with ongoing work as needed.
• Help train new members of the CAD team when required.
• Meet deadlines while maintaining a consistently high standard of output.
• Follow up with sales colleagues regarding designs that are still awaiting approval.
• Raise and resolve queries about specific order instructions while following company processes for client orders.
• Assist with laser engraving rings and use laser cutting equipment for merchandising tasks when necessary.

Requirements

The role calls for a solid understanding of jewellery manufacturing and the ability to deliver intermediate-level bespoke client work. You should also be confident handling the full range of core collection pieces and familiar with the technology used in the workshop, including 3D printers, laser cutters, laser engravers, and CNC equipment. The position requires someone who can remain calm under pressure, work to deadlines, maintain strong quality standards, and follow security procedures carefully.

Skills and competencies

Strong attention to detail, clear communication, good time management, strong organisation, record keeping, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt quickly are important. Bench skills are helpful, though not essential.
