Role overview
This hourly contract role focuses on construction code compliance, permitting, and jurisdictional review. The specialist will work remotely and support the interpretation and quality review of building-code related data, permit materials, and AI outputs.
Compensation and work mode
The engagement is offered as an hourly contract at $65 to $90 per hour. The position is fully remote.
Responsibilities
- Examine construction drawings, permit submissions, site plans, and inspection documentation, then mark them for alignment with applicable building regulations.
- Determine which code provisions, local rules, and compliance factors apply in different jurisdictions.
- Check annotated datasets for precision and consistency with municipal, state, and national building codes.
- Review AI-generated responses to confirm they correctly reflect permit conditions, zoning restrictions, and code requirements.
- Create annotation instructions that explain how to interpret building codes and jurisdiction-specific variations.
- Offer clear, structured feedback that helps strengthen regulatory interpretation and cross-jurisdiction accuracy.
Requirements
- Applicants need a strong working knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and jurisdiction-based compliance rules.
- Prior experience as a permit expeditor handling city coordination, permit filing, and inspection tracking is preferred.
- Architectural experience is valuable, especially for candidates with solid command of code compliance and plan development.
- Background as a government reviewer or plan examiner in a municipal or state permitting environment is highly desirable.
- In-depth expertise in California, Texas, or Florida is mandatory.
