Role Overview
The Band Assistant supports the band leader and the broader production team by coordinating communication, paperwork, schedules, music-related logistics, and travel arrangements. The role is hands-on, highly organized, and involves working closely with multiple teams to keep band operations running smoothly for studio and remote production needs.
Key Duties
- Support the band leader with day-to-day tasks and serve as the main point of contact between the band and staff.
- Help manage the band during remote shoots and road-show assignments.
- Prepare and distribute daily setlists.
- Share schedule updates, taping information, and other important notices with the band.
- Work with the music licensing team to ensure music clearance requirements are handled.
- Coordinate with the audio engineer on lyric-related needs and other production requests.
- Assist the band with a variety of tasks and supervise interns on running errands.
- Submit daily music cues to the music department and help manage intern support on cue sheets.
- Track cue changes by checking in with writers and segment producers.
- Manage Roots-related paperwork and route casting paperwork as needed.
- Submit weekly band attendance records.
- Enter transportation expenses for The Roots.
- Work with stage managers to organize band members.
- Coordinate travel for remote shoots and road shows.
- Arrange transportation for band members.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, along with at least one year of experience supporting a senior executive in television entertainment or similar production experience. Candidates must be comfortable using a Mac and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, adaptable to change, highly organized, detail-focused, personable, and able to work effectively with staff and crew at all levels. Strong multitasking ability and prior production experience are considered advantages.
Work Location and Schedule
This role must be performed full time on-site at an NBCUniversal-designated work location in New York, NY.
Compensation and Benefits
The posted hourly pay range is $17.50 to $20.00. Compensation is paid on a weekly basis, using a standard 60-hour workweek. Hours worked beyond 40 hours per week are compensated at overtime rates, and additional overtime is paid if the actual schedule exceeds the expected 60 hours per week, in line with legal requirements.
