Role Summary

This position sits within supply chain, logistics, and warehouse operations for an automobile warehouse or plant setting. The selected professional will be responsible for creating, improving, and standardizing packaging systems for automotive components and finished goods so that handling, transportation, storage, and overall cost performance are optimized. The role also contributes to warehouse layout planning, flow improvements, and packaging development using CATIA and related design software.

What You Will Do

  • Develop both returnable and expendable packaging concepts for automotive parts.
  • Translate customer needs, part dimensions, and logistics limitations into practical packaging solutions.
  • Build 3D models and engineering drawings for packaging in CATIA.
  • Check packaging designs for safety, product protection, ergonomics, and transport efficiency.
  • Run packaging trials and refine designs based on outcomes.
  • Create warehousing and logistics solutions that improve space usage and operational output.
  • Design material handling approaches, storage concepts, and packaging movement workflows.
  • Prepare financial comparisons to support new packaging and warehouse proposals.
  • Assist with RFQs, business proposals, and customer-facing presentations by providing technical inputs.
  • Lead packaging standardization and optimization efforts.
  • Work to lower packaging expense, freight cost, and product damage.
  • Support continuous improvement using Lean and Kaizen methods.
  • Track packaging performance indicators and suggest corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with customers, engineering teams, suppliers, and operations teams during packaging development.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on expertise in CATIA is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD applications.
  • Understanding of automotive packaging standards and returnable packaging systems.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations, material handling equipment, and supply chain processes.
  • Experience in packaging validation, design optimization, and logistics cost analysis.
  • Ability to work with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • For the Assistant Manager level, 5–8 years of relevant experience is expected.
  • For the Manager level, 8–12 years of relevant experience is expected.
  • Industry exposure in automobile manufacturing, automotive warehousing and logistics, 3PL/contract logistics, or auto components is preferred.
  • Practical experience in CATIA-based automotive packaging design, including returnable packaging, dunnage design, rack design, and warehouse packaging optimization, is required.
