Role overview
Kleen Test Products Corporation has an immediate opening for an Analytical Lab Chemist at its Strasburg, Ohio location. In this role, you will carry out routine and specialized chemical analyses with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and speed. Work must be completed by closely following written test methods and work instructions so that dependable results are produced for manufacturing and production support. All findings must be recorded clearly and legibly.
What the company is seeking
The ideal applicant has at least one year of GMP laboratory experience along with a college degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline. A solid foundation in basic chemistry, analytical testing, and laboratory instrumentation is needed. The role also requires the ability to diagnose instrument issues, carry out routine preventive maintenance, and adapt to a fast-moving, varied production setting. Extra hours, including limited weekend work, may be required during periods of heavy workload or urgent deadlines.
Key duties
- Perform standard analytical testing on a range of lab submissions, including raw materials, in-process batches, finished products, bulk materials, water samples, cleaning samples, and stability samples.
- Carry out specialized testing as assigned by the Laboratory Manager to support development work, new product efforts, method troubleshooting, and out-of-specification investigations.
- Document results accurately in line with standard operating procedures and work instructions, and review the work of other laboratory staff when needed.
- Build practical knowledge of laboratory instruments and techniques, including GC, HPLC, UV/Visible spectrophotometry, FTIR, and related systems.
- Support cleaning validation studies and engineering trial activities through analytical testing.
- Compile, organize, and summarize data when required.
- Handle general housekeeping tasks and glassware cleaning to maintain a tidy lab environment.
- Communicate effectively in both spoken and written form with managers, teammates, suppliers, and customers.
- Take on other tasks assigned by the Lab Manager as needed.
- Maintain high ethical standards and follow all company policies and procedures.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong emphasis in the natural sciences.
- At least one year of GMP laboratory experience.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze business information, journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize several projects at once.
- Comfort with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, plus experience using Google Suite, Microsoft Outlook, and statistical analysis software.
- Ability to troubleshoot instruments and interpret analytical results.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
