About the Company
Maybank Securities is a brokerage and investment banking business with operations and client reach across ASEAN, the UK, and the US. Its services span corporate finance and advisory, debt and equity capital markets, derivatives trading, brokerage and research for both retail and institutional clients, as well as prime brokerage.
Role Overview
The organisation is looking for an organised and driven Analyst / Associate to support the KYC Operations function. This role is centred on KYC and client onboarding activities, and involves close coordination with business, compliance, and operations teams to make sure customer documentation aligns with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review client profiles to identify the KYC information required under internal procedures.
- Assist with the collection and assessment of KYC records for new clients, and also review documents for existing clients across individuals, corporates, funds, and financial institutions.
- Perform initial due diligence, including name screening, background verification, and basic risk evaluation in line with internal AML/CFT/CPF standards.
- Work with internal teams and clients to gather missing documents and address KYC-related issues or questions.
- Track onboarding progress, unresolved items, and periodic review timelines.
- Flag KYC gaps, exceptions, or warning signs to senior team members for further review.
- Help maintain documentation and update data matrices used for team reviews, reporting, audits, and regulatory requests.
- Contribute to discussions on process improvements and operational efficiency.
- Keep records accurate and ensure data quality across internal systems.
- Escalate operational, regulatory, and other risks to the line manager and functional leads, and support mitigation or control measures where needed.
Candidate Profile
The preferred candidate has 1 to 4 years of relevant experience in KYC/CDD or client onboarding, with Analyst-level candidates typically having 1 to 2 years and Associate-level candidates typically having 3 to 4 years. The person should be comfortable with KYC profiling, account documentation, and AML/KYC practices in banking or the financial services sector.
They should understand AML/CFT/CPF requirements and related regulatory expectations such as CRS, FATCA, SIP, and similar frameworks. Strong attention to detail, an analytical approach, and sound problem-solving skills are important, along with good interpersonal and communication abilities. The role also calls for a compliance-focused mindset, the ability to work with clients and internal stakeholders, and a proactive, collaborative attitude.
Applicants should be able to manage multiple tasks, work to tight deadlines, and learn quickly. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required, and experience with data tracking and basic analysis is preferred. AML/CAMs certification is an added advantage but not compulsory.
