About the role
This is a remote freelance opportunity with a US-based AI frontier lab, coordinated through Crossing Hurdles. The company is looking for seasoned insurance professionals to help assess and improve AI systems used in insurance workflows. It is intended as a paid, flexible, long-term engagement for working professionals who want to contribute their industry expertise without stepping away from their current field.
What you will do
- Examine AI-produced outputs connected to claim processing, coverage judgments, and day-to-day operational work.
- Spot mistakes, missing details, or mismatches between the model’s reasoning and real-world insurance practice.
- Write clear expert feedback that can be used to train and refine AI models.
- Review cases involving claim investigation, supporting documentation, reserving, and final resolution.
- Identify compliance or process issues based on your professional background.

Candidate profile
- At least 5 years of experience in insurance claims or insurance operations.
- Experience in positions such as Claims Manager, Claims Analyst, Insurance Operations Analyst, Subrogation Specialist, or a closely related role.
- CPCU, ARM, ACAS, or FCAS credentials are considered a strong advantage.
- Good command of the claims lifecycle, coverage analysis, and accepted industry practices.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce structured, concise feedback.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous setup.
Work style and expectations
The engagement is self-directed and remote. You will complete evaluation tasks according to your own schedule, while meeting agreed weekly hour targets. The workflow is not meeting-intensive. Onboarding is typically completed within 24 hours of acceptance. Quality is valued more than sheer output, so careful attention and professional judgment are important.
Compensation
The pay range is USD 100 to 125 per hour. Payments are made through Deel on a fortnightly basis. The expected commitment is 15 to 20+ hours per week, with a minimum of 10+ hours per week. This is positioned as a long-term engagement, and strong performers may be considered for retainer opportunities.
