Role overview

Farm Solutions Ltd is hiring for a Tree Seed Production Supervisor on behalf of its client in Wicklow, County Wicklow, Ireland. The client works with tree and shrub seed supplied to nurseries, and growing activity in Ireland has created the need for someone to help drive this expansion.

The supervisor will be responsible for coordinating tree seed operations across Ireland. The role includes assessing and preparing collection sites with seed collectors and landowners, making sure access and equipment are arranged, and following all seed-related legal requirements and health and safety procedures. You will also work closely with the UK-based team, collectors, customers, and landowners to keep collection, processing, and dispatch running smoothly.

In addition, the position involves supporting order processing, checking paperwork, and working with logistics partners to ensure deliveries are accurate and on time. Full training will be provided in England, while the main base will be in Ireland.

Key responsibilities

Site checks and field activity are central to this role, along with customer communication, seed processing, logistics support, and day-to-day operational coordination.

Site evaluation and field operations

• Partner with current collectors to inspect collection sites and confirm whether they are suitable for the season’s seed collection.
• Travel across Ireland to identify new locations that may be suitable for different species.
• Speak with landowners to secure permission for collection work.
• Notify the relevant authorities so all legal requirements are met.
• Make sure the right vehicles and equipment are ready to support efficient collections.
• Help organise and set up activities on site, including equipment checks and coordination of the team.
• Take part in and help complete dynamic risk assessments.
• Support practical fieldwork when needed.
• Collect seed and supervise teams where required.
• Ensure collections are completed promptly.

Customer engagement

• Serve as a main contact for customers and landowners, making sure their expectations are understood and delivered against.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships through clear, professional, and proactive communication.

Processing and logistics

• Handle customer orders and ensure all related documents are accurate and fully completed.
• Coordinate with logistics providers so deliveries arrive on time and with accuracy.
• Receive and check seed shipments from collectors and overseas suppliers, making sure the necessary paperwork is included or completed.
• Store and process seed correctly and collect samples for testing.
• Keep precise records of goods received and dispatched, and flag any issues that could affect stock or delivery schedules.

Operational and team support

• Support everyday operations so they align with internal targets and expectations.
• Help keep vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working order.
• Record daily activity, including time records, site information, and customer feedback.
• Escalate any safety concerns, transport delays, or customer issues to the relevant manager.

Working conditions

This role involves regular travel throughout Ireland, with occasional trips to England for training or coordination. Work is carried out outdoors in changing weather and across varied terrain, and it includes physical duties such as lifting, walking, and operating equipment. During peak periods, overnight stays or longer stretches away from base may be needed, and workload can be seasonal with high-intensity periods. A full UK or Irish driving licence is required.

Candidate profile
