Role overview

Queensland Rail is seeking a Systems Maintainer to join its Regional Assets North, Wayside Systems team at the Cairns depot. In this position, you will help keep mechanical signalling systems operating safely and dependably across a large regional area covering Cairns and Kuranda, extending south to Townsville and St Lawrence.

What you'll do

  • Install, service, and repair mechanical signalling equipment.
  • Support upkeep and repairs for standby generator plants.
  • Carry out tasks in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records and job documentation.
  • Help improve existing work methods and day-to-day practices.
  • Record completed work against planned maintenance schedules.

What you need to bring

To be eligible for consideration, you must hold a Certificate III in Mechanical Rail Signalling and have a current open driver's licence. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary signalling team. You should also be willing to travel throughout regional Queensland when required and be available for overtime and weekend work when needed.

What Queensland Rail offers
