Role Overview
This position is focused on building and expanding strategic relationships with both new and existing customers in ocean freight and freight forwarding. The role involves shaping account strategies, aligning solutions to customer needs, and driving sales growth, profitability, and long-term business value.
The successful candidate will also identify market movements, track competitor activity, and turn those insights into commercial opportunities and effective responses.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and strengthen strategic partnerships for the company’s ocean and freight forwarding business.
- Adopt a flexible, collaborative approach, lead through example, and stay attentive to business priorities and customer objectives.
- Build and grow customer accounts on a global basis through high-level account planning and execution.
- Prospect target customers using active networking and relationships across the wider FedEx organization.
- Design sales strategies for deploying the company’s services against customer opportunities in ocean freight and freight forwarding.
- Work to achieve revenue, margin, and yield targets for assigned accounts.
- Prepare detailed business plans for each account.
- Drive sales growth initiatives and competitive pricing actions while coordinating customer-facing activity and strategy worldwide.
- Engage senior stakeholders to review satisfaction, manage sensitive situations for at-risk accounts, and respond proactively to customer requirements.
- Partner with internal teams to develop solutions, proposals, and pricing structures, including participating in sales meetings to clarify opportunities and shape the value proposition.
- Lead the proposal and presentation workflow.
- Use approved systems and processes, keeping information accurate and current.
- Share weekly updates on all accounts in various stages of new business development.
- Provide strong sales leadership by consistently advancing prospects through the sales cycle in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
Required Profile
The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, along with 8 years of experience in ocean and freight forwarding sales.
Experience selling to C-suite executives is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should bring practical knowledge of logistics processes, solution selling, and project management.
A solid understanding of the ocean freight import process from initiation through final delivery is essential.
Applicants should have a proven record of selling solutions globally to customers of different sizes and complexity levels, as well as the ability to meet major account sales targets and execute key customer account strategies.
Experience in preparing account overviews, basic financial and competitive analyses by industry vertical, and quantitative benchmarking is preferred. Strong interpersonal ability, relationship-building skills, strategic planning capability, and sales management experience are also important.
