Role overview
This is an entry-level store role focused on supporting the delivery of auto parts to commercial customers while also helping with in-store inventory and operational tasks. The position may be offered as either part-time or full-time, and a fleet safety certification is required.
Core duties
- Transport parts safely to customers when needed.
- Prepare and stage parts for customer orders.
- Collect returned items and cores.
- Distribute weekly and monthly sales flyers.
- Handle daily collection on credit accounts.
Additional store support
- Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, restrooms, facing, dusting, and the parking area.
- Assist with general stocking tasks, including truck stocking and back-stock organization.

Skills and job expectations
To do well in this role, you should be able to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with customers, coworkers, and managers. The position also requires the ability to read and understand safety instructions, operating guidelines, maintenance directions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals. Basic math skills are important, including accurate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. You must also be available for a mix of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Experience and credentials
Prior automotive parts experience is preferred. A valid driver’s license is mandatory, and the candidate must already be fleet safety certified.
Physical requirements
This role is mainly performed while walking or standing. It also requires the ability to speak and hear clearly, use hands and fingers to handle or feel items, reach with the arms, and perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The job involves frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 100 pounds. Required vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment
The job is usually performed indoors, but there are times when work must be done outside in different weather conditions, such as when installing batteries and wiper blades. The role may also involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated places, chemicals that may be toxic or caustic, electrical shock risk, explosives, and vibration. Noise levels are generally moderate.
