Role overview
CareChoice Ballynoe is seeking a full-time Speech and Language Therapist to join its team in Cork. This is an opportunity for a committed clinician who wants to contribute to resident care within a nursing home setting and help strengthen the organisation’s healthcare offering.

What you will do
- Carry out assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, delivery, and review of intervention programmes for service users in line with professional standards.
- Share assessment outcomes and recommendations with the service user and other relevant people as appropriate.
- Keep accurate records of assessments, diagnoses, care plans, clinical notes, related contacts, and case summaries according to departmental and professional requirements.
- Work with service users, families, carers, and colleagues to set goals and plan intervention.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues and other professionals to support service users in reaching their full potential.
- Provide guidance and information on communication needs, and on feeding, eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties, to service users and others as needed.
- Attend clinics and take part in meetings, case conferences, and unit rounds.
- Contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively with the service user and other relevant parties as part of an integrated care approach.
- Represent the department, profession, or team at meetings and conferences when required.
- Take an active role in team-based performance management.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality, ethics, and legal compliance.
- Work within the scope of Speech and Language Therapy practice as set out by CORU and local guidelines.
- Perform other duties appropriate to the post as assigned from time to time, and contribute to the ongoing development of the role as circumstances change.
What we are looking for
- Registration as a Speech and Language Therapist with the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
- Strong clinical knowledge and the ability to apply evidence-based practice in day-to-day work.
- Good clinical reasoning skills and a clear understanding of the Speech and Language Therapy process, its theory, and how it applies to the role.
- Sound professional judgment and practice consistent with accepted Speech and Language Therapy models.
