Role Overview

Zip is expanding rapidly, having launched in early 2020 and grown by more than 40% each month. The product spans request management, no-code workflow builders, customer reporting dashboards, integrations with ticketing systems, connections to financial systems, B2B payment processing, and other core platform capabilities.

As a Software Engineer, you will help shape Zip’s core products and platform architecture. Your work will be directly shipped to users, and you will collaborate closely with a compact, high-ownership team that values clear communication and cross-functional teamwork. The environment moves quickly and involves solving a broad mix of technical and product challenges. While mentorship and guidance are available, the team looks for engineers who can independently define, plan, and solve complex problems.

What You Will Do

• Create dependable, resilient product experiences and backend features that can hold up under real-world use.
• Partner with product teams and customer-facing stakeholders to translate needs into well-designed solutions.
• Produce clean, extensible code that is easy to maintain and evolve.
• Contribute to scalable frontend applications and reusable interface components when needed.
• Develop APIs that support both existing functionality and new web application features.
• Help build AI-powered capabilities that automate procurement workflows and support better decision-making.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in software engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or another technical field that involves coding, such as physics or mathematics.
• Hands-on experience building web applications and APIs in production environments.
• Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, React, and GraphQL.
• Experience using standard tools for build, testing, deployment, and observability, such as Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Kibana, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Strong ability and curiosity to pick up new frameworks, design patterns, and programming languages quickly.
• Prior experience in a smaller company with broad responsibilities is helpful but not mandatory.
• Exposure to AI-assisted automation, or interest in working with AI/ML teams on intelligent workflow solutions, is valued.
• Experience integrating with external systems such as Jira, ServiceNow, or Slack is a plus, but not required.
