Job Overview

This contract opportunity is for a highly organized and imaginative Social Media Coordinator to support a major entertainment and lifestyle portfolio that includes Food Network, HGTV, and Magnolia Network. The position suits someone who genuinely enjoys pop culture, food trends, and home-and-lifestyle storytelling.

You will manage the full social promotion process for assigned shows, starting with asset requests during pre-production and continuing through post-premiere content such as highlight edits and meme-style posts that can drive audience engagement.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the full social content journey for assigned shows, including reviewing video edits, writing platform-ready copy, assembling highlight reels, and creating meme content for channels such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Pinterest.
• Handle routine operations for the Food Network YouTube channel, including uploading content, optimizing videos, and keeping thumbnails organized.
• Build and maintain active communities, especially on newer platforms like TikTok, by tracking conversations, replying when needed, moderating discussions, and finding user-generated content worth resharing.
• Plan and publish posts with a high level of accuracy so that public-facing updates are always correct and polished.
• Watch for emerging social trends and new platform features to uncover fresh promotional opportunities for Food, Home, and Magnolia-related content.
• Support production by capturing live or original footage when needed and continuously reviewing content with audience growth and social performance in mind.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• You should have at least 3 years of professional experience in social media.
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop is necessary.
• Experience using social analytics and publishing platforms such as Sprout Social, Creator Studio, and Tubular is expected.
• You must understand social media best practices and how users behave across platforms.
• Excellent writing ability is essential, along with the skill to produce concise, brand-consistent copy.
• You should be proactive, solution-focused, and able to juggle several active projects with changing deadlines.
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is needed when programming or special events require it.

Additional Information

Location: New York, NY 10003

Work arrangement: Hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely.

Contract length: 12 months.

Pay: $35.00 to $40.00 per hour.

Preferred interest: A strong interest in food and home design is a plus.
