Overview
Spektrum works across multiple international locations and supports major public-sector and defence buyers, including NATO, the UN, the EU, and national government organisations, along with their Tier 1 supplier networks. The company delivers specialist professional services, aerospace and defence sales support, implementation, and operational subject-matter expertise for client programmes.
This opening supports the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA), the body responsible for secure and dependable communications and information technology services for NATO member nations and partner organisations. NCIA manages cybersecurity, command and control systems, satellite communications, electronic warfare support, and information management across NATO’s enterprise technology environment.
The assignment sits within the Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS) programme. NCI Agency is NATO’s main provider of C3 capability and CIS services, operating and defending the enterprise-wide IT infrastructure that enables consultation under Article IV and collective response under Article V when needed. Interim Workforce Consultants form an important part of this workforce.

What you will do
- Provide advanced third-line technical support for NSATU NATO CIS services, architecture, and IT/Data Management Services while helping maintain the required service availability targets.
- Carry out fault analysis using the IT and Data Management Services Management System, including both local and remote diagnostic methods.
- Oversee and perform scheduled maintenance on infrastructure, management appliances, and related NSATU IT/Data Management equipment.
- Keep technical documentation current so that system changes, configuration details, and operating procedures are accurately recorded.
- Support and verify backup and restore processes for IT and Data Management Services devices.
- Assist with remote troubleshooting and on-site intervention when needed to preserve continuity of service.
- Work with internal and external parties to coordinate support, maintenance, and service delivery activities.
- Contribute to incident, change, and release management processes.
- Produce clear, auditable evidence of service performance against agreed KPIs.
- Help maintain ongoing monitoring of service health, availability, and operational risk.
- Support NCIA decision-making through reliable performance reporting.
- Assist with the assessment and validation of payment-related performance measures.
- Prepare monthly service performance reports.
- Provide initial incident notifications, regular progress updates, and post-incident reports with root-cause analysis and corrective actions for major incidents.
- Supply KPI data, evidence packs, breach identification, and calculations for service credits where applicable.
- Build and maintain dashboards that display service status, availability, active incidents, and performance trends.
- Spot opportunities to improve service efficiency, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and track recurring issues for long-term improvement.
Essential experience and technical background
- CompTIA A+ certification or an equivalent qualification, including the pre-2019 or post-2019 exam versions.
- Hands-on ability to deploy and support VMware 6 environments.
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere components, including ESXi, VSAN, vRealize Operations, NSX, vSphere CLI scripting, and VMware update services.
- Deep familiarity with storage technologies such as vSAN, iSCSI, and small SANs such as HP MSA.
- Practical expertise with Veeam Backup & Replication 9.x and VMware-based architectures.
- Solid administration knowledge across Microsoft platforms, including Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows 10, and Exchange Server 2013/2016.
- Capability to manage DNS domains and DNS resolution on Windows 2008/2012 R2 and Windows 2016.
- Experience implementing and administering Active Directory environments.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve client operating system and client software issues.
- Experience deploying SCCM architecture.
- Strong knowledge of core enterprise services such as Active Directory, domain trusts, Exchange servers, DNS management, Group Policy, McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator for endpoint protection, and software update services.
- Knowledge of Blackberry Enterprise Server environments.
- Good understanding of NATO command structures, organisational context, and enterprise architecture, including DCIS services and OSI layers 1 to 7.
Desirable background
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Deployment Kit (MDT).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft RDS services.
- Experience configuring and managing McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 5.1.3 and later.
- Broad understanding of server, storage, and networking hardware.
- Familiarity with HP blade servers and HP rack-mounted servers.
- Knowledge of network protocols and network management technologies.
Language and communication
English proficiency must meet or exceed NATO SLP 3333 under STANAG 6001, covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The role also requires the ability to communicate technical information clearly, both verbally and in writing, including briefings on complex topics.
Working style
This is an onsite position in Wiesbaden, Germany. Some travel to other NATO locations may be required.
