Overview
FrancoSud is seeking a secondary school teacher to deliver science courses and electives to high school students in Calgary, Alberta. The role includes classroom supervision and instruction aligned with Alberta’s curriculum.
Role and responsibilities
You will teach science and elective subjects at the secondary level while managing student groups and ensuring lessons follow the Alberta Program of Studies. In addition, you will work closely with school leadership and staff to support the school community’s educational goals in pedagogy, culture, and language.
Requirements
- Alberta teaching certification, or the ability to obtain it
- A Bachelor of Education degree or an equivalent qualification
- Previous experience teaching secondary-level students
- Familiarity with Alberta Education’s curriculum
- A positive, dependable, and self-directed work style
- Strong French language proficiency, both spoken and written
- Good command of English, both spoken and written
- Solid understanding of educational needs in a minority-language setting
- Respect and appreciation for learner diversity
- Flexibility and enthusiasm to contribute to the school community, Francophone culture, and extracurricular activities
- Legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions related to work involving children
- A criminal background check including vulnerable sector screening
