Role overview
UCC Holding is seeking a Quantity Surveyor in Riyadh to handle detailed quantity measurement and cost control on multidisciplinary projects. The position is focused on ensuring that tender packages are complete and that submissions meet all project requirements. The role also includes visiting sites during the pretender stage and preparing RFIs for review by Senior Quantity Surveyors.
Key responsibilities
- Develop precise cost estimates for construction work by reviewing project drawings, specifications, material needs, labour costs, and other cost drivers.
- Monitor project budgets across the construction lifecycle, keeping track of spending, comparing actuals against plans, and flagging any deviations.
- Support the tendering cycle by assembling tender documentation, evaluating bids, and helping negotiate agreements with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve strong commercial value.
- Oversee contract administration tasks such as checking contract terms, handling variation orders, and addressing contractual issues to protect project interests.
- Carry out accurate quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings to establish the material and labour quantities needed for execution.
- Apply cost-control practices to keep project spending in check, identify savings opportunities, and contribute to value-engineering initiatives.
- Recognize project risks including overruns, delays, and scope changes, then help develop practical mitigation actions.
- Verify that construction work aligns with quality expectations and project specifications through inspections and quality checks.
- Prepare regular progress updates, cost summaries, and forecasts for project stakeholders.
- Support the resolution of disputes and claims involving quantities, costs, and contract matters by offering informed input to the project team.
- Contribute to HSE activities, participate in safety awareness efforts, and assist with incident reporting and follow-up in line with company and IMS policies.
Experience and education
This role requires at least 8 years of overall work experience, including 3 years in a relevant capacity. Experience in the GCC is considered an advantage and should ideally span 5 years. Suitable educational backgrounds include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying, or a Diploma in Engineering or another related technical qualification.
