Role Overview
We are looking for an Electrical Project Manager to take ownership of large-scale substation projects in Doha, Qatar. The role centers on end-to-end delivery of EHV/HV substations, including projects at 220 kV and above, with a strong focus on safety, quality, cost control, and stakeholder coordination.
Project Planning and Delivery
You will build detailed execution plans covering schedules, budgets, and resource needs, and then drive the project through all stages to successful completion. Hands-on scheduling experience with Primavera P6 or MS Project is expected.
Team Leadership and Coordination
This position involves guiding cross-functional teams made up of engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors. You will also coordinate closely with client representatives, consultants, and internal teams to secure approvals and provide timely progress updates.
Technical Execution
The role includes oversight of installation, testing, and commissioning activities for substation systems and equipment such as GIS/AIS, transformers, protection and control systems, switchgear, SCADA, and related assets. You will also review electrical drawings, engineering documents, and technical specifications to ensure accuracy and project readiness.
Standards, Contracts, and Compliance
A key part of the role is ensuring that all work complies with Oil & Gas facility requirements, HSE expectations, and relevant quality benchmarks. The project environment also demands alignment with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and other applicable Oil & Gas industry standards. In addition, you will manage contract conditions, handle claims and variations, and support resolution of disputes with project stakeholders.
Cost, Resources, and Procurement
You will track project financial performance, including costs, cash flow, invoicing, and overall profitability. The job also requires careful use of manpower, materials, and equipment, along with coordination of procurement for long-lead and critical items.
HSE, QA/QC, and Reporting
The position requires strict implementation of HSE management systems, regular risk assessments, safety audits, and quality inspections throughout the project lifecycle. You will also prepare dashboards, progress reports, and client or management presentations, while keeping engineering, construction, commissioning, handover, and warranty records properly documented.
Project Close-Out
At completion, you will oversee project handover, close-out activities, and fulfillment of warranty obligations to ensure a smooth transition after delivery.
