Role overview
We are hiring a Project Manager for a general contractor based in the Kansas City, KS area. This position is responsible for overseeing construction work from the early planning stage all the way through final completion, with ownership of budgets, schedules, subcontractor coordination, client communication, and overall project delivery.
This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys accountability, troubleshooting, and being engaged across every stage of a build.
Key responsibilities
- Lead construction assignments from preconstruction through closeout while keeping work safe, on time, and within budget.
- Promote and uphold safety and quality practices, including field visits and inspection support.
- Coordinate day-to-day project activity, resolve field challenges, and keep work aligned with drawings, specifications, and client goals.
- Support estimating, quantity takeoffs, proposals, subcontractor pricing, buyout, and contract administration.
- Track budgets, forecasts, change orders, vendor invoices, and owner billing.
- Assist with permit acquisition and ensure work complies with codes, regulations, and contract terms.
- Keep project records current, including RFIs, submittals, schedules, and closeout documentation.
- Work closely with superintendents and field personnel to support efficient project execution.
- Take part in OAC meetings, subcontractor meetings, and internal reviews to monitor progress and maintain coordination.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, design professionals, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or comparable hands-on experience is preferred.
- Between 4 and 8+ years of construction project management experience is required.
- Background in supporting or leading projects from preconstruction through completion.
- Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of construction tools and software such as Procore and Microsoft Office.
